Haven't seen mentioned it here this year but the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling 2024 is about to start.

Quite a lot of cool events. Quite a few of them free.
    Check it out here

Mr Bill and I are going to this double talk (which I I believe was mentioned on this forum):

    Sunday 2nd June 2024

How to break the trans-Europe cycling world record in 10 easy steps: Adults £12, Concession £10 tickets
What can psychology tell us about creating healthy, happy places?: Adults £12, Concession £10 tickets

Oh yes, I want to go to that one but <long and complicated reasons why we might not be able to>.

Well in spite of Reasons I have booked tickets for the double bill. I hope I'll be able to get to the psychology one at least.

PEDAL ON: CYCLING CAMPAIGNING IN EDINBURGH
    Museum of Edinburgh
    Saturday 8 June 2pm

There are many groups in Edinburgh that campaign to make our city a safe place for cycling. At this event we will hear about the activities that some of these groups are running and how to get involved. Presentations will include the following:

    Hop on The Bike Bus

When a city lacks safe cycling infrastructure there is no better way to get your kids to school than by taking part in a bike bus. Bike bus champion, Jarlath Flynn talks about how you can go about setting up a bike bus for your school and how it can help nurture healthier, happier more resilient kids and adults.

    City Centre West East Link

Hear from Henry Whaley, Chair of the Roseburn Route Support Group who will explain how the campaign for the City Centre West East Link was run.

    CAN CYCLING MAKE TRANSPORT SUSTAINABLE?

    Wednesday 5 June 2024, 2:00pm
Lecture to complement the exhibition ‘Pedal Power: Cycling and Activism in Edinburgh’

We know transport as it is today - relying heavily on cars - is unsustainable. They create climate-damaging emissions, clog city centres, lead to illnesses, and injure and kill far too many of us. The Government’s watchdog Committee recently said Scotland’s climate target is looking unreachable without drastic action.

Some believe we can solve all those problems if lots more of us take to cycling - but is that true?

How sustainable is cycling really, and just how much of it would it take?

Come on a quick trip from the environmental impacts of the bike, arriving at what a city that relies on them instead could look like.

Dr Brendan Hill is a sustainability expert who wants us all to be warm at home and able to get about without destroying earth’s life support systems. Originally a biologist and journalist, he’s now an academic and consultant. He regularly uses legs, wheels, and small and large motorised objects to move around.

Mrs LB and I went to Theee Wheel Drive on Saturday night. Film about hand-cycling to a bothy and back. Power assisted trikes giving three people the chance to access parts of the outdoors normally denied them.
EdFoC is great at presenting the less usual aspects of what cycling can do.
We'll be going to closing film next Sunday night at Cameo. (Yes - I know poster makes it look like typical cycling film but believe it's not)

I enjoyed Ian Walker, but more the long distance cycling talk than the psychology one. (Mr fimm has done Transvulcania, the ultra marathon he mentioned at the beginning of his story.)
