The Scottish Budget for 2025-26 is now out. I have had a quick look through for active and sustainable travel related funding. The most obvious change on previous years is that no total is given for investment in walking and cycling. This means I can't say whether the budget has gone up or down - although this makes me think it has gone down.
The "Active and sustainable travel" budget line (a real rag bag of programmes and projects) remains at the reduced 2024-25 rate (cut in September from the original 2024-25 budget).
Oddly, in one of the annexes to the main document there is reference to a "new Bus Infrastructure Fund", but no mention in the main document or any figures given.
So - hard to tell what is going on. Although I think it reasonable to assume walking and cycling are in for a few lean years.
