Slinking back on here after a long absence to do a spot of last minute plugging for anyone who hasn't made plans yet for the late May bank holiday weekend.
The KM (Kirkpatrick Macmillan) rally is a revival of the old CTC rally in Dumfries and Galloway, which has now been rebooted by the local community in Keir and Penpont. It's going back to its roots with camping in the church field (other more comfortable venues are available locally), a ceilidh in the village hall, a massive cake and coffee morning on the Sunday and a programme of led rides in and around the surrounding countryside.
Those of you who know D&G know that we've got loads of gorgeous quiet back roads (kept that way by the council's cunning policy of never mending potholes) and rolling countryside, it never rains, there are no midgies, and the people are incredibly friendly. One of these facts is not true. But actually it very often doesn't rain during the last week of May, also known as our summer.
Those of you who don't know D&G are missing a treat and should get themselves down here pronto.
I'll be doing a couple of shorter rides, which should be suitable for those who don't want to spend all day in the saddle and who prefer a gentler pace (otherwise I'll be hanging off the back). It coincides with Spring Fling (there will be a studio tour on the Monday) so non cyclists can be kept amused if they like artsy crafty stuff.
