apparently police closed Roseburn at Coltbridge last night.

question on bsky asking if it's reopened today?

Subsequent replies suggest it remains closed and is likely to be so for a while: https://bsky.app/profile/andyfbell.bsky.social/post/3lqwby5ezyk2s

Wnet past there today - PC on the south end of the closure said he had been told it should re-open sometime tomorrow morning. Not sure he sounded 100% convinced.

Clearly done to demonstrate that there are suitable alternative routes when the tram works happen…

Or it could be badger kidnapping.

To be clear, the steps at St George's school are now open. It is the section between this bridge and the bridge at Ravelston Dykes that is closed

We've asked Police Scotland for an update but their line remains the same as it was on Friday.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries in the Roseburn Path area of Edinburgh in connection with an ongoing investigation. There is no threat to the wider public.”

    Apparently -

I am advised that the path is likely to be closed for the remainder of this week.

I appreciate this will be an inconvenience for regular users of the path network.

My colleagues are doing their best to minimise the impact and are working to get the path open as soon as possible.

We really appreciate all the support from local residents in and around Roseburn.

I heard it was graffiti linked to Gaza on the tarmac.

That was in a different location on the path. Not related.

    Local knowledge -

they were in today with dogs, metal detectors and cops with shovels

I'm told they have also closed the path that goes down from Ravelston Dykes now too

Not clear how that guy could get 10 minutes out of saying "the police are not saying what's going on".

Ah, that's what I must have experienced yesterday. Asked the Policeman where the diversion route was and he pointed and said Blah Blah road/st, don't worry, there's nothing to worry about. So I just had to do that thing you do at airports and follow people on faith that they know where they're going.

One Wed, 11 June, a firearm was recovered in the Roseburn Path area of Edinburgh as part of ongoing enquiries into violent incidents in the East and West of Scotland. An extensive investigation into these incidents is ongoing. Any info - call 101.

I assume they've had a tip that weapons are buried there, and had to do an awful lot of searching to recover (and be sure they've found everything).

Special shout out to the person digging around from Save the Roseburn Path group who reckoned the crane was there to facilitate footpath renewal on Muirdale Terrace. One can only assume they reckon you crane in a completed section of pavement off the back of a lorry?

I hope this meams the undergrowth has been cut right back...

Perhaps its a way to get overgrown bushes dealt with in the future...

I heard the vegetation management plan was to hurtle a tram down it every eight minutes ;)

Nah, the police have made it worse by splattering mud all down the sides of the path, by driving their vehicles all over it. Path effective width now less than it was, all the way down to Craigleith

Please watch our short update on recent incidents in Edinburgh. This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
