Test post. Will this show up? (for some reason Bakky's post is missing)

Admin view: the post wasn't spamtrapped as far as I could see; in fact, the post didn't seem to exist at all.

The front page says there are 4 posts (should now be 5 after this one), but I can only see two

I've had a direct look in the database and no sign of the earlier posts in there either!

I assume my original post - heavy on the formatting, included an image for pizazz - got swallowed for one reason or another. The internet is, after all, held together entirely with superglue and goblins.

    Original post something was approximately:

Might be preaching to the choir here but ETRO deadlines for 'South', Braid Rd and Comiston Rd schemes are this weekend, Sunday 15th. Some debate as to whether that means midnight Saturday or midnight Sunday.

‘SOUTH’ — ETRO/21/29A – a bundle including Buccleuch St, Causewayside, Craigmillar Rd, Gilmerton Rd, Mayfield Rd, and Old Dalkeith Rd - Comment Here

    Braid Rd — ETRO/21/29B — Comment Here

    Comiston Rd — ETRO/21/29C — Comment Here

If you prefer, you can respond by emailing TRO.Consultations@edinburgh.gov.uk quoting the relevant scheme.

Interestingly. according to the plans posted here:

    https://www.pclconsult.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Meadows-to-Greenbank.pdf

    (Linked from this consultation:
    https://travellingsafely.commonplace.is/en-GB/proposals/v3/travelling-safely-the-meadows-to-greenbank-etro-scheme?step=step1)

The modal filters remain in the Braid Estate (Vehicle prohibition area and "no waiting" restrictions)

    Most odd.

I was somewhat snowed under yesterday but I did take some time to take an initial look at the consultations. From what I gathered during my initial quick scan, the ones for Comiston Road, Braid Road and Meadows to Greenbank (i.e. the "Braid Estate") were only there because they'd found a mistake in the original ETROs and had to re-issue them, which also meant that they had to re-open them for consultation (reference the "What is the Travelling Safely project?" section). That may also be the case for the South ones but I didn't have the bandwidth available to look at that one as well.

All three of the revised ETROs I looked at seemed to be about parking, waiting and loading restrictions rather than any new or removed segregation/LTN infrastructure per se. I'm afraid I didn't have time to compare in detail the parking restrictions in the revised ETROs with what's currently in place, and I couldn't easily see a way to find the original ETROs to compare with the revised ones, which made it difficult to formulate a coherent response.

It looks like the consultations are still open at the moment so may not close until later today. If I can find the time I will try to submit a response to the revised ETROs, most likely along the lines of "anything to dissuade antisocial behaviour by drivers abusing and obstructing measures put in place to increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists is fine by me" - though I may have to find a more measured way of expressing it.

“though I may have to find a more measured way of expressing it“

I think your current wording above is just fine.

I applaud anyone willing to wade through any of these consultations and, more so, for people taking time to respond.

I have some sympathy for officials having to deal with all the responses!

Let’s hope ‘this period’ of incessant consultations is coming to an end.

Part has been ‘political’, and some/most(?) due to rules/laws that may still need to change.

The CEC ‘mysteries’ of how some stuff just happens without any consultation is ongoing…

While the plans don't show the cycleways, they cover the restrictions on parking, loading and moving motor vehicles that make the cycle lanes possible in this area

Not that it’s necessary, but just to second @neddie above - the plans show the restrictions that make the cycleways possible, but don’t need to show the cycleways themselves. The council can put those in without the same process, provided they don’t also need to change restrictions on loading, parking etc. That’s how we’ve seen kerb-segregated cycleways go in on London Rd, Holyrood Rd and Lasswade Rd without TRO / ETRO processes involved.

Always had my suspicions it would be midnight 15th (today) but no wording anywhere made it clear.
