“Our new Walking, Wheeling and Cycling strategy puts people at its heart.  We’ve asked our communities to tell us what they need for physical activity to be both safer, easier and more welcoming.  And we’ve listened.

The ambitious South Yorkshire Walking, Wheeling and Cycling Strategy is the first of its kind in the UK – underpinned by a strong focus on community engagement, it sets out a twin-track approach to build safer, healthier neighbourhoods and to connect every community to opportunities.

@chdot - Just discovered yesterday that Sustrans is no more while invoicing hire of a UA for carrying stuff for photoshoot.
Now called Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.

Charity registered in England/Cymru, Scotland and Eire.

    Yep

Looking for the Sustrans website? You're in the right place. We have a new look, but we're still the same charity making it possible for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle.

    No idea ‘why’.

No doubt they will be appealing for money to change ALL the signs…

Suspect ‘new name’ won’t last as long as the original.

The Sustrans press office yet to respond to a question asking whether the name change was due to the inclusion of the relatively-newly-devisive word “trans.”

“Right now, our brand doesn’t easily help us showcase the impact of our work, and it doesn’t emotionally connect with people the way it could,” states the FAQ. "We’re not as well-known as we’d like to be and even those who do know us are sometimes confused about what we do and what we’re trying to achieve.”

I think there is also a concern that the organisation is somewhat preceded by the reputation of 'Sustrans' amongst the public, as in 'Sustrans barrier' being one of those pieces of infrastructure that is well meant but massively inconvenient.
