Hot wax for chains. Seems like a good idea, but at £50 a pop, is it more snake oil than chain wax?

Presumably it’s mostly paraffin wax, so there must be a reasonably priced way to do this. Thoughts?

Corson could sell us paraffin and we could turn it into wax, oh wait…..

Ha - might triple the life of a chain used by a pro team, which probably get binned every couple of hundred miles. Would take more than some wax to triple the life of one of my chains, especially the one in a complete chain case!

That article sounds like a cyclowax press release.

To me the biggest benefits of waxing are a cleaner drive chain which will survive a bit of rain. Something a chainguard will also achieve.

I haven't waxed any of my own bikes yet but I'm definitely considering it.

It will probably save you 3W, ergo will make you muuuuch faster.

However, I beleive waxed chains collect gunk more easily and you will have lost your 3W after two races rides.

So long as your team mechanic can re-do for you after every race ride, sounds like a plan.

The move, when it is complete, will give Miquelon the unenviable title of the first French village to relocate because of the climate emergency. The French government is investing public finances through an unprecedented use of the Barnier fund, used to financially support French citizens whose houses are threatened by the climate crisis by repurchasing their homes.
