With much sadness Eastside Bikes will close on Saturday 7th Feb. I’d like to give a big thank you to all of our lovely customers over the years, your support and custom is very appreciated and I hope we did a good job for you. We’re going to be selling everything in the shop at 40% off until we close, including bikes. We’ve still got a few ex-hire Raleigh Strada City bikes which are now £225 was £375 was £550 new, and Raleigh Motus E-bikes at £720 was £1200 was £1800 new We’ve got a huge stock of new and used parts, deals can be done for buying in bulk - everything must go! I’ll still be building custom bikes and doing resprays at http://www.armourcustombicycles.com Thank you all so much Andy Armour

Yes Eastside will be a loss. Always had interesting stuff. Took at least one unwanted recliner off our hands. May have taken the odd 'normal' trade in iirc. At one stage Leith Cycles were close by too. All part of the secret cycle dealers network.(!) Soul lives on at least.
Raleigh bikes a good deal. Dutch Batavus models re-badged? - £720 a snip for a Bosch. Replacement battery is over £500 these days!

In other news I hear Alpkit have gone under. Anyone heard more?

Alpkit now have a new investor. I'm not sure of the details but sounds like they were bought out of administration.

“All part of the secret cycle dealers network.(!).”

I gather that’s currently working for Eastside in terms of bulk shifting of new spares.

Also a reasonable amount of ‘public custom’ for bikes and bits (helped by significant discounts of course).

Not a ‘fire sale’ in the sense that everything must leave the building by next Saturday.

Nor will stuff be ending up in skips, so vultures will be disappointed.

Worth a visit to say thanks to Andy for running a great shop for locals and ‘people who like bikes/servicing and enthusiastic service.

You may even find something you want to buy!

Just a reminder that he isn’t ’retiring’, just spending more time on his existing specialist frame building, restoration, renovation and refurbishment business - frames to personal specification (he is well qualified to advise as he has ridden tens of thousands of miles on his own creations), paint jobs, decals etc.
