I'm not familiar with the area but looking on Google Maps it's such an obvious candidate for a School Streets Scheme. There are only two streets that feed into the area, so close them to everyone except permit holders at pick up and drop off time.
Unfortunately the School Travel Plan review has been a complete farce with most schools now years overdue having the travel plan completed, never mind actually having anything implemented. The document at https://www.streetsaheadedinburgh.org.uk/downloads/download/9/school-travel-plan-review-programme makes for sorry reading.

The school is at south end of village and new houses to the southern edges. If everyone agreed not to drive up there it would help The newer estates on Ravelrig Hill [particularly] need better crossings The A70 needs to be 20mph etc. I do see P6s and P7 walking themselves to school but the new estates have led to the roll at the school increasing gradually and the similar gradual return to driving to work has led to the issues reported
