There is also concern among residents and business owners that the road closure has seen an increase in anti-social behaviour, with teenagers on electric bikes wreaking havoc, and even crime.

“People have been telling me about a rise in teens going around on electric bikes, as this road closure has really helped them as the police can’t chase after them, they are using this closure as an escape route from getting caught,” said Emma.

    From the article:

With some of the old buildings at Edinburgh’s Trinity Academy currently being demolished, Craighall Road, between Stanley Road and Ferry Road, has been closed since June 2025, with the closure expected to last until at least August 2028.

Interesting that the traffic re-routed down Newhaven Road is apparently "an accident waiting to happen" and "someone is going to get killed", whereas it was presumably just fine passing by a secondary school when it was using Craighall Road.

Thanks @EjStubbs. THere will be Neds down there but again NOT because the road is. Closed there is a bike path favoured by the Neds In Black from Greater Pilton to Victoria Park. Good point about these accidents waiting to happen. They are indeed always waiting to happen - just pick your road.

Closed for five years why bother re-opening it in 2028 but they will
