Argyle House in Castle Terrace meets the criteria for being designated a building “of special architectural or historic interest”, according to Scottish Government agency Historic Environment Scotland (HES).
But it looks unlikely to be granted protection from proposed demolition because HES does not list buildings where a development proposal is already being advanced.

Argyle House has to stay as it is.
As you all (probably) know it's been used twice recently in TV dramas.
Once as the Scottish Police HQ for Irvine Welsh 'Crime' series (STV player featuring Dougray Scott). Big production values with drone shots and castle in background.
Secondly used in 'Department Q' (Apple TV). Also big production values with drone shots and castle in background. This also featured the Golden Rule bar apparently. (I don't have Apple TV so only repeating from hearsay)
Both should be retained indefinitely as filmic locations!
