    For those who know/don’t know/don’t care -

CCE people have been meeting in ‘real life’ for ever

There have always been people here who knew each (before CCE) due to ‘cycle campaigning’, work or many other parts of Edinburgh’s layered life

However, early on, it was realised that there was a desire to clock some of the faces behind the usernames.

The last Friday of the month was suggested as a good, (pre-work), time

So the hunt for an early opening cafe was on

Peter’s Yard (now renamed) seemed ideal - early opening, location and massive table

Other venues have been sampled, inc canal barges

PY remained the staple until the opening of Canopy at the top of MMW (Middle Meadow Walk - where Critical Mass and PoP start!)

The CCE Coffee’n’Chat Meet in May is on the eve of PoP

It’s little surprise that many participants in PostPY are active in PoP

CCE didn’t start PoP but without many of its associates, it would never have started or kept going

Like the rest of life, things were upended/altered by Covid - including PoP (some people ‘retired’ having done a fantastic job - and left a legacy and template), CCE gatherings have been altered by a reduced need to start so early and fewer people rushing off to a desk!

If you haven’t been, come along, ok coffee, comfy seats indoors (though May’s event will be outside in the sun…) and friendly people who tend to ride bikes

There will be some chat about what needs to be done on the (PoP) day

BUT you don’t need to wait until the day before to offer your services

There are still spaces for Marshalls

    Enquire/offer your services here -

If you come to caNotPY you can see me (~9.15am onwards), and if you are good pal and take a bundle of flyers and some sticks of chalk you will be rewarded with a gift of an early 'this machine...' 2026 edition PoP sticker!

I have an unfortunately timed appointment nearby at 08:50, but will try to pop along for part of the early shift and then pop back for part of the later shift for good measure.

I think I might be first to arrive for the first time ever. I am sat inside since it was a little windy out, but it should be just about warm enough to sit outside.

I'm not making it today. Just came back yesterday after 20 hour plus trip back from daughter and busy catch up moving bikes around at LB.
Been following the amazing work done to make PoP happen. Well done @bakky and team!

“Been following the amazing work done to make PoP happen. Well done @bakky and team!“

    Indeed!

I’ve been involved mostly by iMessage and am aware of the impressive/time consuming work by B

Fortunately he has had help from PoP longtimers with a history of ‘fixing’ things or dealing with ‘small’ (but important) details/activities

Plus a collection of new PoPers which will help with a great day tomorrow and ‘easier’ planning for next year…

Press coverage continues, this is from the great (almost daily) email newsletter by Michael MacLeod edinburghminute.com https://www.edinburghminute.com/the-edinburgh-minute-weekend-edition-2/?ref=the-edinburgh-minute-newsletter

Photo came from the PoP 2026 for Media group

If you are at PoP tomorrow and take some interesting photos (and have a Flickr account) you might like to add
