There could be major disruption to city centre streets on Sunday. Princes Street and much of the West End could be closed to all traffic from 10am and 9pm - if Hearts win the men's football Scottish Premiership title on Saturday.

I'm thinking this is a bit like the Queen's funeral procession?

We should attend because it's a historic event, not because we're football fans (or royalists)?

@SRD well yes I think neutrals do want the Jam Tarts to win. I know I do and Idont even like them.

I'm a big Hibs fan (season ticket holder) and after proclaiming it would be the worst thing ever even I'm warming to the idea, particularly after the events of the Celtic-Motherwell game.

The howls of anguish from the glory-hunting Celtic supporters across Scotland will probably dampen the pain of our greatest rivals winning if it does happen.

One thing that is clear is that this is the best opportunity a non Old-Firm team has of winning the league even in my lifetime (I'm too young to remember when Aberdeen won it!).

So good luck to the 90% of Hearts fans who are good honest football fans!

Premier League football (England and Scotland) is quite boringly predictable when it comes to league positions.**

Of course Hearts could have won the league title but if you add up the player 'values' then the cost of one Celtic player equates to half the Hearts team.
Despite that the Gorgie side held both Glasgow teams off for months till yesterday when they achieved a 'most accomplished runners up' award amid a chaotic pitch invasion at Parkhead.

The entitlement of 'old firm' fans* and their Glasgow media fanboys infuriates me. For months the talk was that they might not win the trophy this year and how they could close the gap to Hearts (how dare they compete!). Celtic & Ranger fans suffered months of mental anguish at the hands of Hearts with manager Derek McInnes.... but with piles of money and the return of Martin O'Neill as manager it all came right in the end. Yawn.

    * Similar to 'hard pressed motorists'.

The Champions League final will not be available to watch for free in the UK for the first time since the competition’s modern rebrand 34 years ago when Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest.
