    Odd how it always "local business" that is worried and what local residents feel about the over tourist problems (driven by the desires of "local business") never seem to matter...

    Indeed, but one of the 'local business' owners who is quoted in the article wants them to be "totally overwhelmingly inspiringly brilliant for everyone" so what could possibly go wrong if they successfully manage to organise a Business Improvement District for Old Town?

    To be fair to them the issues they describe (anti-social behaviour, crime) negatively affect businesses, locals and tourists alike. It's not like the business owners of North Berwick being up in arms about the parking charges because it means they can't park their Range Rovers outside their shops- although to give a Royal Mile equivalent the Gold Brothers don't really seem to care if their brand new Lambo gets ticketed!
