Waterloo Place long term closure

    Not sure if/where this is mentioned since search is broken, but per edi.bike today:

    Long Term Closures:
    Waterloo Place: Closed westbound until end Nov 2026 for Scottish Water repairs. Eastbound access will be reduced to 1 lane. Be aware of vehicles overtaking within the narrow and uphill remaining lane. A dismount will be necessary westbound, and it will not be possible to rejoin the road until after North Bridge, as traffic lights will be altered.

    is it even possible to access Waterloo Place eastbound, if you are coming from North Bridge? The right-hand lane is coned off, and the usual ASL at the end of WP was blocked by hoarding last week, and so the green light from NB seems to be only for traffic going to Leith Street. I ended up jumping off my bike at the lights, and walking up WP instead.

    The annoyingly fiddly workaround appears to be to forgo NB and get yourself across to George IV Bridge, the Mound, Market St and Waverley Bridge, and turn right eventually to get to Princes St eastbound for the straight run to WP.

    Also noticed the other day that the Waterloo Place faff is accompanied by the return of the split of the North Bridge north-exit lights into left-lane-west-along-Princes-Street and other-lanes-Leith-St-and-WP phases, as they were back in the day before the North Bridge works. There's also a massive hole on exactly the line one might take going between North Bridge and Leith St.

    The buses are going east up Waterloo Place but it is mighty tight. As @arellcar says this is from Princes Street only. It does make it easier for pedestrians. Seems to be about Sewage.
