If you're a cyclist, you can make a big difference to blind and partially sighted people. Ride on the road or cycle path. Park out of the way. That's all it takes for Ken to get where he's going, confidently and independently. Watch our video to find out more.

Talking of obstructions, I always wonder why everyone puts their bins out on the pavement thus creating multiple obstacles for everyone passing by on foot. I put mine out with the wheels in the gutter and the flat edge on the kerb but regularly find it moved back onto the pavement before it's emptied.

They're scattered round way worse of course once the bin motor's been through...

I remember in days of yore we used to leave our bin bags sitting at the end of the driveway. I'm sure the foxes and crows love that public amenity! That was also when bin men could hitch a ride on the back of the lorry between streets.

Wheelie bins weren't a thing except at school, and those were huge round dumpster things you could climb inside.

I suppose the obstruction is going to be for either pedestrians or motors, maybe even including the bin lorry itself on narrow streets.

See also - pavements being used for storing roadworks signage etc. Can't impede traffic whatever you do...

Strange he doesn't mention cars at all.

    Motornormativity in action.

It's almost like these organisations have a visceral hatred of people on bikes
