“17 years”
Don’t know what to say
Seems like a long time
At the time it was seen as ‘a good idea’
The Spokes web site had almost no posts on its forum section
The Cycling Scotland forum had been pulled because of too many critical posts…
CCE is ‘a thing’
I’m always amazed/pleased there is still a hard core of fairly early adopters
And people still come back after a long gap when they have something to ask/say
The internet/world has changed, CCE less so, which is a weakness as well as a strength
In Edinburgh more people cycle
In Voi there is now a cycle hire ‘system’ that works. It helps that it’s all electric, but that’s not the only reason
‘Politically’ things are better but not much
Without Covid, ‘infrastructure’ might be WORSE!!!
I still maintain that CEC is worse because of the SA years, but it’s still more about lack of sane priorities at SG level
In many ways it’s less about ‘cycling’ now
It’s unfortunate that some others concerned with their cause see ‘cycling/ists’ as more of a problem than the GIANT elephant herd on the streets
And the herd contains ever larger individuals
Meanwhile ‘our’ individual concerns (and desires for ‘just a bit better’) are further sidelined by worldwide and polarised vested interests
Keep riding bikes and encouraging others, it’s the only way to cope!

Yesterday I cycled down WOL PATH then the lovely Infra around the Piskie Cathedral [Big Shout out to Darius the Verger and Vice Provost Mae],then through the side of West Register House then down the cobbbles to St Bernards well to sweep up leaves that will be back today; Dont call them Cobbles they are Setts.
After my 2.5 hours of leaf shoveling I cycled up the path we had just cleared then through Dean Village and on to the also excellent CCWEL to Roseburn then up Stenhouse Path and onto Canal and through Heriot Watt. Joyful.
All you young dudes Carrythe news. Cycling is great in Edinburgh. Keep smiling and for a bit of variety go to Glasgow and see what a council with an overall majority and only a west end of entitled motorist Cnuts can do.
Sadly on a training course this Friday but available any other time to talk about spikes on your tyres and clouds in yer coffees.
