Yup, side roads surprisingly slippery around 8am. But another glorious day for cycling!

  3. Lovely day for riding. I took the Innocent Path this morning, sort of purposely looking to see if the ice had gone. There are massive stretches still completely covered. This isn't new stuff with the temperature dropping again, but the old stuff that has never been cleared.

Model cycling city my posterior. Other places must look and laugh.

The main roads have been clear for days, but obviously that's all that matters. Strangely the access points have been gritted. But what on earth is the point in that if the rest of the route has treated with nought but disdain????

Just ride on the roads. If Edinburgh wants to be a Model cycling city, it must be made such that people can confidently cycle along the main roads. Either that or provide subsidised studded tyres for all commuters... lol

Anth, I saw you waiting to turn right into Bernard Terrace - I yelled (but I don't have much voice this week) but you didn't hear me. :-( Fair enough, you were concentrating on the traffic. ;-)

There's still plenty of ice on the pavements and paths at Mounthooly Loan and Galachlaw. It's quite high up there, and riding on the roads was a bit slippy today!

What I really noticed today was the air temperature in lower lying areas, almost like an inversion.

Canal Towpath mostly still sheet ice beyond Burke and Hare (Navvy) Statue at Longstone/Easter HAiles.
