    Wow. That's in the territory of Reynolds 853, which is a similar air-hardening steel. The tensile strength of 953 is in the 1900-2000 MPa range but needs careful heat treatment. Compare with 531, which is 'only' in the 700-900 MPa range.

    I can't say I ever came across a binary phase diagram for Unobtanium alloys, but my copy of Callister's 'Materials Science & Engineering' is a few editions old now.

    Not only do we have that new martensitic stainless steel, now:

    'The process that Gary described – it shouldn't have worked,' said associate professor of materials science and engineering Suresh Babu. 'I didn't believe him. Steel is what we would call a mature technology. We'd like to think we know most everything about it. If someone invented a way to strengthen the strongest steels even a few percent, that would be a big deal. But seven percent? That's huge.'

    they were selling non-stick pans (but without a tefal coating) just the metal (titanium?) at Gardening Scotland. fat free the guy fried an egg on the bottom then put a piece of wet kitchen paper in the corner and put lid on creating steam and poached it on top. A froached egg?
