Charity event with added Obree

    Hi there,
     
    We thought this may be of interest to your membership?
     
    We have a charity event in Edinburgh to raise funds for “The Sick Kids Hospital “  and have Graeme Obree joining us on the cycle but also as one of our speakers at the evening event in the Balmoral in the evening and wondered if one or two of your membership might be interested in taking part on Friday 1st of April 2011?

    there may have been some extra incentive for me signing up to be a ride leader for this event... Glad that the rumours turned out to be true!

    Our ride today was scouting out the course - and most importantly - the lunch stop for this ride. Can highly recommend the Whistlestop on Innerleithen. Very cyclist friendly and the girl from the café magically appeared with some locks for us when we arrived. Brilliant warm scones.

    The event organiser took a short clip at the top of the climb (where I had heard the Skylarks singing as I waited), mainly to illustrate the complete lack of wind up there;

    His closing comment of "it's now 10 miles down hill" was a bit optimistic as if we'd stopped pedalling the wind would have blown us back up the way.
