    narrower pavements, less greenways, more car parking spaces, remove speed / light cameras...

    I'd like to see a streetsign decluttering amnesty like some councils down south are doing. There's got to be some scrap value in all that needless metal bolted to lamp posts.

    I agree. I'm sure the real kaputnik knows that one writes 'fewer greenways'. :>

    The question for Morningside is whether reducing the built-out pavements at bus stops to allow buses to pull in would ease congestion. Morningside doesn't seem to have become any less trafficked through the discouragement of motor vehicles, although it still has very defnined rush hour periods. I look at old photographs and marvel at the near total absence of street signs, road markings...and vehicles.

    @Arellcat - wot u say is generally true, though less would probably be correct if it implied narrower.

    Well, that's a question. Is reducing congestion (as long as bikes can past) a good thing?? - more, faster traffic??

    The real problem with M Rd. congestion is that buses at stops stop other buses further behind due to the single-occupation cars in between.

    I'm far from clear about the intention of the bus boarders (or rather the way they have been implemented). The place that needs a bb is outside the doctors' (opp. Waitrose) where the pavement is very narrow.

    I remember the 'consultation' for this and saying that if BBs were to work (in traffic flow terms) they would need to have double yellow lines on the opposite side of the road and that the central white line should be relayed - as was done just south of Maxwell Street where the road is 'wide enough'.
