  1. I'm tempted by the 6am, but would probably train back and there's always an issue of getting a space!

SWMBO has stepped in and commanded that we travel there by car with the children in tow (apparently leaving them trust up in the cupboard under the stairs is no longer deemed acceptable by the local authorities???). I'll be at the cwoffee morning on Fri so if you spot me towing two unruly and bord boys round do say hello.

I may be allowed to ride home, at least the wind will be behind me.

  3. THAT is the issue. Prevailing wind direction... Home ride would be a lot easier normally (Pedal for Scotland tried east to west once and it was a disaster). Although I have a feeling car might be my only option for available time as well.

I think Laidback has sorted me with press accreditation!

I'd like to state for the record (as someone who works a bit at the SECC in my box-lugging event job) there is NO good coffee there, Ruggtomcat. But Tinderbox in the west end is awesome and isn't too far off track :)

Hey, by the way, do you know nz-er, Jo? I was on facebook and saw someone similarly handled making a comment. Is a pal (and proof that NZ has only 2 degrees of separation)

    Little crazy jo? plays samba?

I was checking out the wind directions, its a southerly in the morning switching to a westerly for the return leg. Ideal! Besides its not audax, if the wind blows, I slows.

Route 75 seems to end at Bathgate at the moment because of the Bathgate to Airdie line extension. The new path hasn't been completed yet - at least not of 6 or so weeks ago when I was last on it.

  11. Righto steveo, I plan to leave Edinburgh about 11ish, get there in time for a salmonella burger lunch in the hall. Promised to be back for about 5 (going out for dinner) but that gives a massive 4 hours or so there.

PM or email (anth@citycycling.co.uk) me your address and we can sort things out.

Press pass for me has been confirmed - hope my new business cards arrive in time!

What bike parking is there at the SECC? (she says, clearly far too busy to look on the official website or on streetview) I was thinking of rolling up on the folding bike and putting it in the cloakroom, assuming the SECC has a cloakroom.

Edit: kinda hard to make anything out from the gugolcar.

Edit 2: aha, some information from the hoss's mooth:

"Our cycle storage racks are located in the following areas around SECC:

    Main Building
    - East Entrance ~ Near the elevated walkway
    - West Entrance ~ South East corner of Car Park 5

    Clyde Auditorium
    - South East of Main entrance

Please note: They hold six cycles each."

Edit 3: "The Cloakroom is located on the main concourse. It is open during many events and visitors can deposit items for the duration of the event for a fee of £1 per item, per day."

There's bike storage for the duration of the event inside the centre, just off the main concourse.

getting to try the energy bars and drinks was worthwhile too, although its best to ask which one have caffeine in them first!
