    Not the biggeest fan of Tripadvisor as a site, however I cant disagree about the result - living in such close proximity to the meadows (and hence walking / cycling distance to the centre) there are a vast array of services / recreational opportunities very close to home.

    I have no complaints about my sons schooling either, however again proximity to a good one helps !

    "Inner city" doesn't mean the same as it does in most UK cities!

    @Chdot - Indeed !

    The only disadvantage I can think of living so close to the centre is the extra miles on the bike when heading on a country excursion - although some would call that training - pah........

    The 'story' surely is that it is one of the most family friendly to _visit_ which is potentially different from living here!

    Yes, but if you go somewhere as a tourist which is not 'just for tourists', I think you assume that you are somewhere where the facilities are 'primary for the locals'.

    'Child friendliness' must relate to 'local culture' to some extent.

    Also whether it's pleasant to walk about.

    "pledge to reverse decline of city in thrall to tourism"

    (Not Edinburgh, and not many bicycles!)
