What's with these dogs? I swear this is the second time this has happened on the NCR1.

nice little clip. You see that bit that attaches their heads to their bodies? If you cycle over it, they shut up! :D

Arf. Maybe scooping them up and lobbing them over the stream and wall to the north of the path (into the compound containing a big-sounding vicious barky secur-i-dog) might resolve the problem.

@kaputnik - I think I was very well behaved to resist the temptation to run the wee dog over. The thought did cross my mind...

And yes, this post is a shameless excuse to show off my new head camera :-)

That's obviously a polite way of saying you cycle faster than me :-(

That's his way of saying "the dogs are scared of my bike"!

    I've met that 1st mutt.

There used to be bike shops that sold dog repellent spray, to remove troublesome canines from about your bike frame.

Never seem to see it any more.

I'd've thought the slightly greater faff in getting a recumbent through the chicane would allow the dog more time to approach and yap.

Perhaps if a load of us all happen to complain on the same day (after perhaps all having been frightened into falling off slightly and lightly injuring ourselves) the relevant authority might pay attention.

There's a golden dog just by Crammond Bridge that often chases you for a short distance. I have often thought about what would happen if it brought down a child.

  11. I think those two come from the traveller's site just beside the path there. I've not seen them in a wee while actually.

    p.s. nice site :)

Report the little bs to Environmental Services or if they are truly aggressive the police. The owners have a legal responsibility to be in control of their mutts.

Big dog, little dog, the way they behave is no different and it means the same thing. It's just because of the wee one's size they get away with it.

Cooncil Pest Control +441316662623 or pest.control@edinburgh.gov.uk. The specific Dog Warden Service is on +441315293030 though is apparently also based in Mortonhall along with Pest Control and shares the same email address despite having a different area code.

Perhaps we could Clarence them, pretending they're pot-holes. Can't imagine they'd be able to yap much after being covered in tarmac and lightly patted-down with the back of a shovel.

@ross this is what I ment and anyone would have a hard time shaking off a dog, those things can sprint up to and beyond 30mph. a cat can do 30!.

I recall Barbra Woodhouse (right name) training dogs not to do this by getting the cyclists to throw water over them. Pop a plant squirter in your bottle rack a couple of days and sqirt them. They may stop.

I've had issues with those dogs recently too, as detailed in the other thread about them.

More, if you drop it from a plane.

Have you ever seen a cat running at 30mph? Funniest thing I have ever seen.

I hate dogs, fortunately I have yet to come across these two.
If you found the owner they would no doubt say "Oh, he's only having fun - he won't hurt you!"

It would be very tempting to pop the smaller one in a pannier and dump him at the top of Arthur's Seat.

I was thinking that today, but I think the little git would wreck my pannier.

Dogs- that's what the end of your shoe is for. They don't like it up 'em you know.
