Anyone need a spare hitch part for an -EBC style trailer?
Can put a pic up. it's a silver cylinder with a clasp at the top that flips open and closed.
(found it in our spare parts box when looking for Kaputnik's lock).
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Not a bike thing but I have an old backpack going free: bought for a trip in, errrrrr, 2006, and not really used after that! Wee bit heavy compared to brand new ones - but a lot cheaper! 50 litre Lowe Alpine Special Expedition (no additional 15 litres as the wee bag that attached to it was long worn out) with adjustable back system (so should suit most people who are neither especially small or tall).
SRD, is it the end which goes on the bike or the trailer? If it's the bike end then yes please.
I have 2 sets of "butterfly" / "trekking" handlebars and I really only need 1 for "oh, I might find a use for these in the future at some indeterminate point" purposes. They are for an 31.8mm / oversized clamp, i.e. Ahead-type stem. Free to a good home.
@acsimpson I can't remember how it works! will take a picture when I'm at home.
Thanks. I'll have at least half a hitch on my bike tomorrow.
It's the silver bit here
https://www.edinburghbicycle.com/revolution-hitch-kit-for-revolution-roller.html
not the black bit that is on the QR.
Having a bit of a shed clearout and I have the following from various aborted bike building projects! Give me a shout if anyone is interested:
Chainsets
Shimano FC-RS500 compact 50-34. 175mm. Black. 11 speed. No BB. Used once. Retails £75. Looking for £30.(this is their non-series 105 equivalent. Came with a new bike)
SRAM Apex GXP. 46-38. Black. 172.5mm. 10 speed. Includes BB. Boxed and unused. Retails £73. Looking for £30.
Brakes:
SRAM Apex caliper brakeset front & rear. Boxed and unused. £34 new. Looking for £15.
Shimano Deore XT V brake (BR-T780). Front & Rear. Silver. Boxed & unused(I did unpack one to have a look but unused). Retail £23 each. Looking for £25 for both.
Tektro R539 caliber brakeset (long reach). Black. Boxed & unused. Retails £42. Looking for £20.
Are the Tektro R539 'traditional' nut or 'normal' Allen key fitting?
Dibs on the Deore XT V brakes please.
@chdot-I think they are the Allen key fitting. Can double check tomorrow (they are out in the shed!)
@crowriver-PM me and we can arrange to meet. Not sure I can make it tomorrow to PoP
chdot-I have checked the Tektro brakes and they are indeed the recessed allen key type
Trail-Gator child's bike tow bar.
Essentially turns your child's wee bike into a tagalong.
This has been gathering dust since my kids migrated to a full tagalong, so need it gone. All present and correct, except for one end of the QR pin that screws on to hold the kid's bike in place. Includes original box, instructions.
The missing piece can be replaced easily enough, but given this I'm just asking a fiver, or swap for a bike bit of equivalent value, e.g.. 26" presta valve inner tube, or 700c x 28 presta valve inner tube, something I can use basically.
(Click on thumbnail for larger image).
@crowriver, Assuming it's just a standard QR bolt or similar which is required (for the lever at the top right) I would be delighted to take it off your hands.
I'm not sure I have many inner tubes available at the moment so may have to go with the paper option.
@acsimpson, I'm sorry but it has already gone!
No worries, thanks for letting me know.
@acsimpson - I have one you can have... I'll have to do a bit of rummaging but it's all there
algo, that would be great. What tyres do you use? or would you rather another form of exchange?
I assume you've upgraded to the followme tandem you were talking about.
@acsimpson I require nothing in return; I'd be very pleased if it were used. You are right I upgraded to the follow-me. With the bike my daughter has I found her bike leant over with the trailgator. You may find the same but it's worth a go as it seems to work well for some folk.
Let me know good times I can drop it off...
I have been wearing a pair of size 10.5 touring shoes - these ones:
https://www.evanscycles.com/specialized-cadet-shoe-EV221224
but they are too small for me really - I'd say they were closer to a 9.5. They are spd conmpatible but I haven't removed the rubber cover for the clips (I am a toe-clip user). They are used, but in good nick, with the exception of the laces which are knackered.
I realise this isn't a particularly appealing offer, but in case anyone is looking for some spd compatible touring shoes of size 9-10ish - these are free to whoever would like them.
Can I interest anyone in a free train ticket to Penrith for the weekend. Events have got in the way so I can neither use then nor refund them. Likely useful for entirely frivolous activities only.
Leaves from Waverly at 0652 at Penrith for 0821
Return leaves PNR at 1553 EDB for 1735
I have a completely unused helmet mount for Cateye lights. Do to me being a gype an unfortunate error, it is incompatible with my own Cateye light.
It's one of these: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1274219-REG/cateye_helmet_mount_5341831n.html
The info sheet that came with it doesn't list the Volt models, but I think this is just because they're newer than the mount.
Worth ~£10, but free to a good home as it's no use to me.
My old shoes have gone to a new home - many thanks indeed to @Mandopicker101 who has furnished me with more delicious beer than the shoes are worth.
I have a 'Georgia in Dublin' cycling rain wrap skirt which I never used as it was too small. It's black, size small. I bought the correct size and it is useful when it's not terribly windy. Easy to take on/off.
Sizing info is on the website: Georgia in Dublin rain wrap
Happy to swap for a coffee in PY or anything child-cycling-related as my two nearly-7-year-olds are kitting out their new bikes.
Another item that I'm clearing from the garage. Listing here before I chuck on other fora, GumBay, etc. May be more items to follow in the coming days...
Stronglight 40T 170mm square taper alloy crankset. 55 series I think. Taken from a single speed build which I hardly ever rode. Has been used, but essentially as new. Complete with crank bolt covers. Currently retailing at £33, asking for £15.
Crow, I'll take that off your hands if you haven't already gumbayed it.
Also if anyone has any 700c 3-speed (or other hub gear) wheels going spare, do let me know.
@kaputnik
PM sent
Anyone got any of the roof rack bars that go across the car going spare, please let me know.
Doesn't need attachments ;-)
@HankChief-I actually have a variety of roof bars from various past cars. They are all Thule. I have a set of 120cm bars and a set of 135cm bars. These are the plain black square profile (they are metal covered in a kind of black plastic. I think the product code is no.762 if you want to Google them). I also have a set of 108cm silver aero profile type bars(product code no.860). Any of these work? Free to a good home.
