Well, having not gone to the steiner school sale, or looked at bikes at Polwarth, we have reluctantly concluded that small person has pretty much grown out of her (much-loved) teenie-weenie bike. We have a next size up Barbie bike, which she doesn't like. It is also heavy and brakes are too hard to use. (it was given to us)

Does anyone have a good quality kids bike that we could borrow so as to see if getting a pricey (and lighter?) one would make a difference? She's a tall 4 yr old - around 110 cm.

One option (touted by Kim among others) is the Isla bike Beinn 20 (small). I presume EBC and others also carry various in the same price range, but have not scoped them. The Beinn 20 gets rave reviews.

For the same price as the Isla bike, TBC carries the lovely looking 'electra girls townie 1 apeed'. I like the dual braking on this - both a coaster brake and a hand brake. But how much does it weigh?

Any other advice appreciated. Also any offers of bikes we could ride for an hour or so. Thanks!

Bike station? They seem fairly well stocked for kids bikes.

+1 For bike station, just keep popping in / calling to see whats in.

Extremely reasonable (kiddies bikes based on wheel size - think 16 inch are £30?), and if it gets a bit wrecked, then cest la vie, you will be getting another in a year or less anyway !
