Anyone seen Peter Jackson's hobbit blog video almost brought a tear to my geeky and adopted wellingtonian eye.

I was slightly dreading The Hobbit due to a combination of Martin Freeman (star of The Abomination Which Would Have Had Douglas Adams Spinning in his Grave) and the threat of Guillermo del Toro's heavy-handedness. After Jackson's failure to properly transcribe The Lovely Bones I'm still dreading it even though del Toro is out.

    Nah, he'll nail it.

Lovely bones went wrong because he tried to 'epic' what is a small domestic drama at heart. And he still took a good punt at it.

This should be comfort zone stuff.

PS, quite enjoyed HHGTTG, but prefer the cardboardy BBC version.(aand now I've got the krikket song stuck in my head. argh.)

Shame del Toro didn't get the green light for At the Mountains of Madness.
