My son's bike was stolen last night from the common stairwell where it was locked to the railings. He has had it for less than 2 months.

Thanks, I will do, but even although it's not that common a bike I'm pessimistic about seeing it again.
Good luck claiming any insurance. When my bke was stolen from our common stair the household insurance co ducked the payout saying it was a public place, even though it was behind a locked door.

you are exactly right, that is what our insurance said.
So I have changed to another insurance company which has included all the family bikes (4) (even away from home), for less than we were paying before.
My son has bought an identical CB explorer from LBS so there may be 2 of these bikes pootling round Edinburgh now. If you see a huge bearded rugby type on this kind of bike it will probably be him. Unless of course the git that nicked his original bike has the same description!
