After an earlier post that my company was trialing a perspex lens that is fitted to the nearside window in an attempt to illiminate blind spots in hgv, I drove it today ! The image is not exactly pin sharp, but the field of view is superb, i actually found myself unconshusly using it instead of the other two mirrors that are suposed to cover this area. ( i know my spellings rubbish but you get the point !) It now seems after similar positive feedback from other drivers that the whole, national fleet may now be fitted with them. Ive no idea how many units we have nationally but it is in the hundreds, we are/were scanias largest customer, they might even be fitted at the factory . Got to be good news !

exactly like that, freshnel, fressnel lenses. cheap and easy to install, can move from truck to truck. Maybe should just give one to everyone who passes their hgv test ?

Nice to hear of a good news story on safety. Sounds like a really good use of low-cost tech, lets hope they are adopted widely.

Yes, getting them adopted - and used - is the trick! Sounds good though.

Here is a BBC item about a Hi-Tech version. Warning: contains footage of a crushed cycle under an HGV...
