    Hmmm, I think that changing the rules so that double-parking is more of an offence (and can be dealt with by the wardens) than parking in a space without a ticket/permit, would do more to address the problems of traffic flow, fairness and danger.

    You raise a good point mgj. It seems that wardens are focused on revenue, not safety or traffic flow.

    It seems crazy to have to call the police to deal with a car blocking a pavement or across a junction but that seems to be the case.

    My dad once advised (when I was moving flats) that we park double parked the van outside the flat, rather than on yellows, because the former required police to deal with and the council wardens were powerless to do anything apart from call for the police. Double yellow or parking bay infractions however could get you ticketed and towed.

    (Or if it only applies to Police vehicles!!)
