Just been watching the Giro during which Wouter Weylandt, a young Belgian cyclist was involved in a horrific crash. A very sad day for cyclists everywhere. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

I have posted this in wrong section - apologies, I'm not great at this kind of thing!

    The non-mobile link is here.

    Very tragic.

However as the article says it is the first such tragedy in a pro-tour since 1995. Deaths from accidents in professional cycling are very rare. Let us just hope this sad event isn't hijacked by parties with ulterior motives or an agenda to forward.

Things like this shouldn't happen. Absolutely sick to the stomach. My thoughts are with his family. RIP Wouter Weylandt.

Theres been a lot of activity on Facebook and Twitter. I really feel for his wife who is 5 months pregnant. He was 26 with his whole life ahead of him. Such a sad loss.

An autopsy outcome shows that he died instantaneously and did not suffer, perhaps this is some consolation.

    Very sad and tragic.
