yes. stuff blowing around badly at gilmore place/ home street as well - some just large pieces of cardboard but also heavy stuff like sandwich boards blowing straight across the street.

lots of small branches down on the meadows, but nothing too bad.

That's a great site. It looks terrible in Glencoe.

I had a fairly uneventful commute this morning, though I might've missed the worst gusts. I did stop a couple of times to pick up people's red recycling boxes from the middle of the road. Cold enough that I actually wore gloves for the first time in two or three months.

I remember the storms of early 2009 when the wind was gusting to 60mph. When it's that strong, you can barely stand up, let alone ride a bike.

Be careful out there. Gusts by the airport recorded near 60 mph (http://www.windfinder.com/report/edinburgh)

  12. Tailwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind! At least I'm hoping so...

I'm also hoping this all starts to get a little bit nicer out there since we're off to Skye on Saturday.

I am below that weather station (more or less). If that had put the anemometer between two of the taller buildings (e.g. JCMB and the Swann), they would get an even high reading.

the trees out here do not appear to be blowing in the direction the weather forecast suggests.

It's a good sign if they are still standing.

The wind just got very noticably stronger here for about 2 or 3 minutes. It appears that it might be a tail/side/head-wind combo on the way home.

The windfinder site had a gust speed of 42 knots at the airport, which is close enough to 50mph to be worrying!

Was showing just under 70mph gusts and about a 60mph wind not long ago on the Forth Bridge website (seems to have crashed now, presumably due to a lot of people wondering if it'll be open when they're trying to go home!)
M9 shut at Jct 1 due to an overturned lorry.

Just noticed the transit parked outside my window leaping about on it's springs...
Going home tonight on the LHT could be... "interesting" :-o

Heard that Gogarmuir Road (by Suntrap)is closed due to falling branches and the high winds.

  22. Hmmmm. Will I risk the tree-lined Innocent Path?

(would usually go along the south road of the Park, but with possible falling rocks, and gusts bouncing off the hill at all sorts of angles, I might take a seemingly safer option...

Not that it'll matter, I expect to be home in about 27 seconds.

You do realise this means if a tree falls on me on the Innocent on the way home my primary concern will be that the camera is intact for a quick self-portrait...
