    Hello all,

I had my Specialized bike for more than 2 years and there is a small label with a pictogram on the frame that always intrigued me:
What does it mean. the "minus car" I could guess it means "use a bike and you'll use less car" but why 4?
    Any idea?

    Thanks

    Gogo

Because cars have space for 4 people but mostly only ever use 1?

    5 - 4 = 1?

Is it a Globe bike? Mine has "-2 cars" on it. I think it's a "green travel" thing, ie. this bike means x fewer cars on the road. Two I can see, but four?

My bike also had a slightly smug "powered by apples and bananas" sticker on the downtube which I peeled off as soon as it arrived. Did/does yours have that too?

It's a Globe Vienna 4. No apples and bananas sticker on mine!

Mine's a Globe Vienna 2. I think we have our answer to the numbers mystery.....it's the model. Presumably the Vienna 1 has -1 car, and the Vienna 3 has -3 cars! A bit silly, really!

Four spcaes comfortably. ;-) Actually thinking of it as 5 spaces per car makes slightly more sense. 1 bike takes up 4 less "spaces" on the road?

I suspect you are right and yes it is silly! Makes my explanation look sound..

Sorry couldn't resist being a pedant there :) I'd say if we went by actual vehicle "footprint" then judging by some of the monstrosities trying to squeeze around Edinburgh's streets you could be up to 6 or 8.

Specialized Globe Vienna 2. Snapped this afternoon, just to show the difference.

It must be the model number - presumably the Vienna 4 having disc brakes does not magically double the number of cars taken of the road!

Sorry, as I should have realised, the Vienna 4 has Nexus 8 speed hub gears (nice!) not disc brakes. Doesn't change the general point, mind...
