Excellent report, Dave. Really enjoyed reading it, you got just enough pain and misery and bad weather in there to convey how it was, without it just seeming like it was a thoroughly miserable occassion.
To add another pretentious French loan word;

I read this and my knees started to ache before Dave even got to Carlisle...!
I've now got a good idea of why I can't ride 600k in one go.
Good stuff though with some nice pics to give a flavour of cycling vs distance vs weather vs traffic. PBP is within sight.
