  1. I'd forgotten how much this particular friend disliked cyclists. Apparently cyclists cut up drivers and then post the video footage having edited it to make it look like the fault of the driver. As well as deliberately riding slowly in the middle of the lane to hold up traffic. AND we don’t pay towards the upkeep of the roads.

I told him of one case recently with the Magnatom chap on YouTube almost being wiped out by a truck on a roundabout and posting the footage and the police coming and charging the guy. Ecept my mate mis-heard, thought I meant that Magnatom had been charged (what with I'm not sure) and commented, "Quite right."

    Sigh.

Some time ago four Yew trees were cut down to make way for a new building. A written complaint was sent to the council pointing out the flagrant abuse and the loss of these perfectly healthy trees. The reply from the council stated that " the trees were a hazard to vehicles". When this was followed up asking for an explantion as to how a stationary object could be a hazard to a vehicle no reply was forthcoming. Some people just deliberately don't get the vechile thing.

It may be a little cynical but that would seem to be a somewhat cheap solution... Cutting down trees because their capacity to stop motorists not driving to the conditions rather than implementing measures to prohibit that behaviour? Sure.
