Any advice for someone thinking of cycling to an important meeting in a suit?

  2. I've gone for lunch a few times and kept the suit on. Only advice I can think if is to make sure to tuck the chainside trouser leg in!

I have invested in Brooks Trouser Strap for that purpose ;-)

If there is still a lot of salt/grit on the road you might want to take spare footwear or put plastic bags over your good shoes.

I have often ridden to meetings with my 'best' jacket folded in half, put inside a clean poly bag and then inside my Timbuk2 (which isn't guaranteed to be clean).

Crucial thing is to plan to arrive early so you don't break too much sweat...

a good crud catcher on top of any other mud guards - even with this on I am noticing a spray of kack on my socks
I wouldn't cycle with a suit jacket on unless in summer and had the wee sleeveless high vis on top, winter high vis wouldn't fit
but since I never wear a suit jacket anyway...

Biggest problems in my experience are shoes getting mucky and getting sweaty from trying to cycle too fast.
But I've never worn a suit jacket when cycling - I'd be inclined to fold it carefully into a pannier.
