Today I made my last run across south Edinburgh to take my daughter to nursery. . But wanted to say thanks very much to all of you for all your support, which made us feel much less alone out there - especially those long winter mornings and nights. All the advice about riding and equipment - especially in the snow - really helped, as did the fellowship.

Obviously we will still be riding around, and hopefully doing more long trips, but that commute (although short to some of you) was really a challenge at times, and having folks to share it with really helped. So thanks very much!!

    Well done!

Presumably after nursery run there's a school run to look forward to?

Well I remember from some of your early posts that you were unsure if it was wise/safe to keep cycling in winter - either by yourself or with passenger.

Fortunately CCE members didn't mock you for your timidity (happens elsewhere, apparently) but, as you say, were encouraging and supportive.

You weren't the only person that was encouraged as other posters have also said - and others actually encouraged to 'brave' cycling to work.

As you'll know there are quite a few people on here with young children being introduced to idea of travelling/exploring by bike. The chances are it will be a lifelong habit.

    If only more parents...

That's an expensive bike, I could get a car for that!
