I'm well overdue another stupid question on CCE, so here goes: my MTB has some odd plastic grommets (nb: not cable guides) in small holes in various parts of the frame, noteably where a rear mudguard might attach. Are they (he asked hopefully) actually places to fix mudguards? If so, what mudguard fittings should be used to fix them?

No, I don't think so. Tempting to suggest that they might take (very small) self-tapping screws/bolts?
