Not news in its truest definition (as most of the points have already been touched upon throughout numerous threads here) but makes for some "it's-Wednesday-and-I-already-can't-face-another-Excel-workbook" reading.

  2. If your child was falling to the ground from a bike I would want them to be wearing a helmet. I don't need an expert with 'evidence' to guide me.

No comment from me on whether that comment left at the bottom is right or wrong, just the Daily Wail attitude it portrays. Evidence from experts is clearly over-rated...

Suprisingly balanced for the Mail. They must have posted it by accident.

Good point. It was probably put in to get readers frothing like their normal "muslims painted my swimming pool black" sort of keech.

I thought they were pretty balanced musings too, though the article was rather pointless in places.

As for the comment... Whether genuine or not, the poster appears to have completely missed the mark of the article.

  6. Yeah, the musings were more balanced than anything you'll get in the comments section! Mainly because they were musings of someone who has clearly seen a lot of the contradictory messages about the subject.

I'm a bit surprised (OK, very surprised) that an article like that was published.

I suggest that the article is good because the author is:

    a) a cyclist and
    b) writing a science column

Well done to him and the Mail for putting it out there.
