Has any one ever been through to the police auctions out west? I keep meaning to go but never get round to it.

Actually I think that's how i stumbled across chdot's blog and ultimately this place.

  3. Yep. They're a laugh actually. You get every strata of society there, and CAN pick up a bargain. The amount of bikes is immense, mainly BSOs, but there can be some gems there (last time I was there I wound up bidding on a Dawes Super Galaxy) - though you WILL be bidding against other people who know their stuff. It's a nice compliment to your skills of recognition and pricing though.

I was going to go when I found out it was in Dalry. Then I looked closer and it was Dalry, Ayrshire. So a bike from Edinburgh has to go all the way to Ayrshire to be sold, just to come back to Edinburgh. And I couldn't cycle out, in case I did buy one, then how could I get it home.

    Grumble, grumble.

Hmm. Wife-parents live in Ayrshire. Bike proven to fit in car. Do you get to closely physically inspect the wares prior to bidding to check for bends/cracks?

  6. Yep, wandering in and about the bikes. Can pick up and have a right good gander.
