Mmm
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Has any one ever been through to the police auctions out west? I keep meaning to go but never get round to it.
Actually I think that's how i stumbled across chdot's blog and ultimately this place.
Yep. They're a laugh actually. You get every strata of society there, and CAN pick up a bargain. The amount of bikes is immense, mainly BSOs, but there can be some gems there (last time I was there I wound up bidding on a Dawes Super Galaxy) - though you WILL be bidding against other people who know their stuff. It's a nice compliment to your skills of recognition and pricing though.
I was going to go when I found out it was in Dalry. Then I looked closer and it was Dalry, Ayrshire. So a bike from Edinburgh has to go all the way to Ayrshire to be sold, just to come back to Edinburgh. And I couldn't cycle out, in case I did buy one, then how could I get it home.
Grumble, grumble.
Hmm. Wife-parents live in Ayrshire. Bike proven to fit in car. Do you get to closely physically inspect the wares prior to bidding to check for bends/cracks?
Yep, wandering in and about the bikes. Can pick up and have a right good gander.
