School pupils helped police track their suspects through the use of distinctive tags.

The 17-year-olds were traced by police after officers visited schools in the Bonaly, Colinton and Oxgangs area where the graffiti appeared.

Pupils were able to point to the suspects from the distinctive tags - AERO, SB and DARE - which were sprayed on bus stops, road signs and telephone boxes.

Probably better than hanging around (the police) on Marchmont street corners with speed cameras - no really!

always did think that writting your name on a wall was kinda inviting pc murdoch and his mates to knock on your door !suspect it was an attempt to make graffiti into a real art form ! but then my views on that are not on the artists side !

If they could round up SINE, YEAH, OE, YOUTS, DEBT, TORCH and PAPERBOY, Edinburgh would be a better place for it. I saw (on Flickr) some Cooncil posters that had been put up in Leith, with examples of most of the above tags and asking for any information.

That's TOARCH, grandad; get with it.
Some of the time, anyway. Evidently there are either some copycats or a splinter group dissatisfied with the original misspelling.

I like graffiti, I hate tagging.

Yes, it's not really "graffiti" - from an "artistic" point of view anyway - it's just writing some letters on things in indelible substances. Plain and simple vandalism. Not even nice letters. Can't they learn caligraphy or something, at least that would be more pleasing on the eye.
