The timetable is very interesting and revealing. A reasonable commuter service, with trains every 20 mins, then quickly dropping down to half hourly and then hourly, picking up to half hourly for lunch time, back to hourly and then a slight intensification for the home commute.
And then nothing.
There was a fairly concerted effort by British Railways to prove that railways were poorly patronised and not sustainable by offering such a mediocre service on them.
