Well done!
Your good fortune must be at fault for the forecast for weekend looking so inclement.

Recognition at last!
Kappers, the weather has been inclement that last few days. Don't know if you've noticed. ;-)

"video quit funny! but anth's pics better!"
Awwwww! :)
The crowd really liked the bike bit, impressive handling skills on the wet surface as well. And you could see the effort they wer ehaving to put in to go up the esplanade - probably used to riding on the flat. Mind you, I thought bikes weren't allowed on the esplanade... ;)
@splitshift - it was great being down on ground level. I wasn't really any closer than anyone in the front row, but had no obstruction in front, and could move about for the right angle for shots and so on. Also meant I wasn't annoying anyone with constant shifting about and clicking (I was about 6 feet lower than the seating). And getting up to the high vantage point was just as good. Could walk about to get the best shot, not hemmed into a seat, and no-one in front of me since we were about 6-10 feet higher than the crowd (stunning views to the south!).
Genuinely had a really fun night.
It was a bit of a photo weekend - was official photographer at a wedding the next day. Sorted through 200 of the 700 shots so far. Not many wedding photographers will have a shot of 2 brides (it was a civil partnership) with the cast of Alice in Wonderland (we were grabbing performers as we walked down the Royal Mile).
