So, I'm off in a couple of days to ride PBP.

In case anyone is interested, you can follow my progress on the live tracker web facility (entering the frame number 6487).

I have also attempted to set up a Twitter account. It is david_mccraw (but you can follow the fun more widely with the tags #pbp2011 and/or #pbpyacf (more UK-centric).

I'm riding a bike borrowed from Laid-Back-Bikes which I hope will sweep me across northern France in magic carpet style (of which I will write much more in a while).

[Edited to add link to wikipedia]

I'll follow you on Twitter and the tracker thing. Good luck. You're underplaying the huge achievement it is to get a place at PBP.

Dave, I just looked at the website - it looks like some ride, and as mollie said, kudos for making the grade in the first place.

Will follow on twitter, and bon velo !

Thanks all... I've added a link to wikipedia.

Should be good I hope. I am pretty nervous about the prospect of four days effort in France with a major mechanical or something... not to mention my poor knees!

I leave Edinburgh in two days time, then the race kicks off on Sunday at 17:30, finish line to be crossed by Thursday at noon!

I'm pretty nervous too. Will be looking at tracking and weather for Brittany. You've nothing to prove of course... doing the PBP just puts you into another, even smaller, outgroup.

PS- Can you get me some duty free in the tailbox while you're out there?

I should be able to decant a few litres of red wine into my drinks bladders..? ;-)

Cider's probably a better bet near Brest. ;-)

    Good luck!

All the best Dave, I struggle with some of the smaler Audax rides, let alone qualify for the PBP.
