Lots of talk an twitter about this, what are the chances of being nearly killed twice in exactly the same circumstances? Word on twitter from those close to Simon is that Doctors say he will never ride again. Thoughts go out to Simon and his family at this worrying time:

I love the quote from Disability Sport Wales: "This happens very often in cycling," he said.
Um.. no, it doesn't. The whole reason it makes the news is because it doesn't happen very often at all. Look at the Boris bikes - well over 6 million journeys in central London traffic and still no serious injuries.
Way to encourage disabled people into sport, Disabled Sport Wales.

18 months in prison and a 5 year ban. 15 Months for the crash 3 for failing to stop, his 3 months for drink driving will be served along side the others so effectively he gets off with that. Surely once you've been proven to be a driver of such standard you should be banned out right?

Not exactly a momentary lapse is it?

We wouldn't want to infringe on anyone's human rights to drive now, would we, especially someone as competent at driving as this miscreant.
Kind of paradoxical that legally driving is a priveledge and somehow courts treat it as if it is a right, which should be briefly suspended if someone proves themself incompetent enough to take the life of another.
