Um, how long has this been on-line?
P.s. find an artist who knows that chainwheels go on the right...
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
It went live at about 11.57 last night...
Inflammatory straplines added by editor, it seems; I was only saying that I can't get into it - you'll upset that nice man who wrote a letter for issue 3.
might help if it had a headline, much less a strapline that actually matched what is on the contents page!!!
artistic license?
but the sheer brilliance of uneasy riders makes up for any minor quibbles....
Amazing how quick people are to pile on with the criticisms.
Well, I had considered saying that I wasn't sure which one _was_ the strapline, but was trying to be funny/ironic....one of those things that gets lost in cyberspace (or just feeble) - sorry!
P.s. find an artist who knows that chainwheels go on the right
Well, it may appear to be on the left, but if you look closely, it is on the right, but the right of a bike that's the wrong way around.
I'm looking forward to reading the new CC whatever some forumites say.
I hear Raptobike gets a mention. Arnold will be pleased... maybe!
What do the critics want - a full page apology from Anth? A refund?
;-)
"What do the critics want - a full page"
YES - every issue -
Why Cyclesport is rubbish
"The abiding impression it left upon me was how excruciatingly uncomfortable it would have to be to be out in the sun..."
"The problem with cycling-as-a-sport is that..."
"Worse is when what should be a race between individuals seeking to win due to their superior physical ability is subverted by people working in teams."
"When I gave the written coverage of the TdF a chance last year it seemed that all these [previously listed bad] aspects were applied in concert."
"Even for people obsessed with the event ... it must surely make a mockery of it that merely being incredibly physically fit ... wouldn't be enough for such a race."
"The expendability of equipment was one of the things which put me off watching F1 and which doesn't impress me about the TdF."
"Where this [technologlical developments]results in increased reliability. durability or safety this is useful, but sometimes it will result in needless obsolescence."
"Though I tend to avoid it nowadays..."
It's not really too big a leap now is it? (and 'Unsporting' - Wingpig's title - fitted onto the picture better...)
@Dave Crampton - We're famous!
Now about our modelling fee...
Robert
Is so a big leap. Criticising != rubbishing.
I've been mispresented by the press, man. You're like those people at the EEN who create these "evil cyclists demand ASLs regularly repainted with the red blood of the children they kill on the pavement" headlines.
@Robert, I don't recall siging a release form....
;-)
But he did buy you cinnamon buns.
Didn't he??
"I don't recall siging a release form...."
Not actually needed for non-commercial use believe it or not. And technically selling an image for use in a magazine or whatever doesn't actually count as 'commercial use'. Using it in adverts and things like that DOES count though.
@chdot - not even a bun
@Anthony - you mean you sold the image?!?
I'm definitely holding out for buns in the future!
<grin>
Robert
Nah, nobody was willing to part with hard cash for it. In fact the two of you owe me a bun after I had to pay people for the trauma caused to them.... :P
I'm traumatised too, where do I claim?
AccidentsRAnth.con?
AnthIsAlwaysRight.con...
Sorry, forgot about that one.
parter site to butchdotisneverwrong.info
Sorry I forgot to say earlier, Thanks Anthony, I enjoyed reading it, and will do for the next few days, as I dip in and out.
