Shame he didn't say "assertive".
"There's even one side to it that cyclists aren't aggressive enough. It's safer to ride away from the kerb where there are cars parked and gutters."
Not quite exactly what the headline infers imo, but yes, shame the word assertive wasn't used.
I would say personally that cyclists should be extremely assertive where appropriate, but aggression towards other road users doesn't help us, that said a bit of attack and aggression in your cycling style can help you get away from junctions etc quickly and safely... as with many words the context is everything and a careless phrasing, or the way it's reported, intentionally or otherwise, can change the meaning massively.
