  1. Planning on finally stripping down the Peacemaker (now I've got the other three bikes up and running) and popping it into Hendersons to see if they can sort the cracked stay and spary the frame. Planning it as a singlespeed hack/shop bike.

I seem to remember some people here have used them before. Any good? How long did you have to wait to get the frame back?

They did the strip and spray for me. Was impressed with results as I've previously mentioned - you're welcome to inspect end result on the frame. Took about a week and a bit but to be honest if I'd hasseled them about it probably could have been quicker. Very informal, paper-based set up they have.

Not sure how much they will be able to do in terms of structural welding, I think cosmetic domestic metalwork is more their thing - fireplaces, radiators, gates etc. But I can recommend you an experienced bicycle and motorbike metal basher / welder I know through ERC who has a workshop in Portobello. When I get round to it, he's going to weld me a new steerer onto my fork on the still-to-be-complete singlespeed project.

I'm not sure if he does stripping/spraying. But think he might. I'll drop you his details.

Knows his stuff when it comes to metal. I think the set-up is more workshop than bikeshop.

Lindsay Henderson has stripped and repainted two bicycles for my family, both to a high standard.
Limited in colour choices perhaps, but then it isn't his central business.
The straightening of a bent seat stay was real craft and the following strip and respray on my Bottecchia was just great.
Nice guy to deal with, cheaper than most specialists down south and conveniently fairly central down at Jock's Lodge.
    I'd vouch for him.

I had a frame done at Henderson's in racing green - a good job. Not a specialist in bikes, obviously, but I'd use again :)

How limited are their colours? I have an old 1980s steed that I'd like resprayed as close to its original pillar-box red as possible.

Presumably I need to strip everything off the frame and forks too?

@Instography for a tenner they will order in any colour of paint you want, so will be able to match it near enough exactly. Or if you go with one of their existing colours, a tenner less. I dropped a frame in a few weeks back and asked for it in BRG. I'm assuming I'm getting what's left over from Dave's tin as when I asked for the colour he went away, fished out the tin and said "last person who asked for BRG we did it in this" :)

  10. Gonna get my Soul done by them after I get back from hols.

And then I might think, after the winter, of getting the Kaff done - though would still need to be a nice colour to match the brown accoutrements...
