Overnight news came in from twitter. His overall average speed fell a bit... 18.6km/h

    from twitter....

93km, 6 hours. Terrible riding. Worst. Decision. EVER. 7hrs ago

Well, on the bright side, only 600km to go. Also the downside. Legs feel good for about 6km at a push. 3 hrs ago

Scenes of great suffering at Brest. Even the sun is not rising as it seems it should. 3 hrs ago

One post suggests he is with other Audax Ecosse riders - one other LB'r has cleared the first control on return - long way to go yet... quite an event...

Like The Raft of the Medusa !

    CARHAIX-PLOUGUER - 42 hours / 782km

As the event goes on the shape of the field changes... If it wasn't about survival before it is now...

Frites, crepes et cafe at some place I know not where, en route to loudeac.

Think he's allowed that - must have been burning all his reserves.

Twittter 2 hours ago... Fougeres. Flaked pretty badly at the end. 7 hours in hand still. Might sleep but busy. Big effort for a surprise sub 80?

It isn't all downhill on the way back to Paris.

    So Dave has done 921km....

Controls left... cycle 86km from Fougeres to Villaines where he'll have done 1000km. (or more than a cycle in a year;-)

      VILLAINES-LA-JUHEL then 80km to:
      MORTAGNE-AU-PERCHE then 75 km to:
      DREUX then 65 km to:
      SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES - Finish line at 1230km

PBP tracking estimate he'll be at next control around lunchtime.... Allez, allez allez!

    He's now at VILLAINES-LA-JUHEL - 1009km.

    On to the last 200km.

He has been sun bathing a bit - is he really suitable material to be a PBP Ancien?

On a wall somewhere in the sun, sampling the baking. Wishing paris was a bit closer. Although at least it's not getting further away.

    He's wondering...;-)
We need to average 9.4 to finish in time, but 18.5 to in sub 80. Nobody is sure what to do. There are plenty of hills left, too.

Maybe tweet him to get moving....

Another LB person, Alf C from Penicuik, got in on 69 hours 48 mins. Great effort from him. 17.6km/h av.

    Latest tweeting from France...

80km in 5h30 with exploding knees. Mortagne. Still 7.5h ahead of the chop and 17h to get the last 140k in the bag.

XXL harsh. Ruined husks of men litter the verge, controle, road. never subjected to 90h hell, don't, or do it with people in worse sta ...

Morning coffee, croissant, ready for the last leg. Definately in Dreux contrary to the #pbp2011 website. Bon courage tout les monde!

Doesn't sound like work to me....;-)

I'm out for part of today so if someone can check his tweets and post when (if) he finishes. If he isn't in by lunchtime then game over..

    FINISHED

    88 hours 20mins...

Think everyone wil wish him the best. He had to struggle at the end a bit. Many didn't make it (hundreds). Many still out on road behind.

    twitter
Argh! Failed by ~30 minutes to join the 89 hour club. 88:20 something I Think. FINISHED. Still got one leg that works, too.

I believe Dave is now entitled to be called a Super Randonneur, a Randonneur 5000 and a Randonneur Paris-Brest-Paris!

Don't forget to put those on your CV and business card!

Just updated my home page.... ok - it's only a bike ride but I've been feeling the strain!

Lots of people didn't make it. One oerson was killed - not sure how that happened.
