[quote]Came out of the office to get on the bike and found not one but two leaflets:

    1. Bike station paper leaflet stapled to bike frame - they now do repairs -- checkups £18 - £30 p- £70

    2. cardboard with leg strap thing attached - advertising Greasemonkeycycles.com - collection, deliverya dn courtesy bike! sounds good to me. 15% off if you like their FB page. pricier services though - £33.33- £55.55 - £99.99

I'd seen the sign, but didn't realise the workshop was just round the corner!

well, if anyone wants a free trouser leg thingy with their number on it, I recommend you check out the bikes on george square.

@custard - handy - but seems to me the whole point is that they'll come to you (doubtless you pay for it, but still convenient) .

I particularly like the idea of the courtesy bike!

I think they did the free bike tune-up service at the end of the Miners' Megacycle this year. Put my youngest's handlebar grip back on properly with a squirt of something.

@ruggtomcat comment to me and I aint commented yet?

I directed a guy at work here as he had the family bikes "in the garage" (where they seem to live) and wanted them serviced, without having to do anything like ride them or take them anywhere. Seemed more than happy with the pick up and return service.

@custard Not sure I follow you but I'll take the bait. I think the collection and return is an option.

But is it normal to have 3 repair only services open up in six months or so? Obviously its a sideline/income generator for bike station. But still, if there is a market for all this, then there must be more people cycling?

@SRD There are certainly more bikes on the Queen St to Edin train in the mornings, four on the rack in my carriage this morning and three then four in the other one I saw, I assume the remaining racks were equally crowded :-o
